I received this book through Goodreads First Reads and have loved every page of it! Sometimes I find historical fiction too dry but this was anything but. Elizabeth Fremantle has perfectly captured the danger, intrigue and game-playing of Henry VIII's court and I felt totally drawn into it all. I loved delving into all the characters' lives, especially 'extras' like Dot and Huicke; they made everything come to life and opened up this world that I hadn't ever really explored in detail before.
Even though I knew most of the facts, Fremantle added flesh to these bones that made the book a complete page-turner and had me willing history had got it wrong. It was passionate, thrilling and extremely well-written and I would definitely recommend it!
